The Forum is at the heart of representation, influence and networking across the Reading’s voluntary and community sector.

Forum Voices

The Forum’s representatives on statutory partnership bodies are called ‘Forum Voices’. Voluntary and Community Sector organisations may nominate paid staff, volunteers or trustees to partnership bodies, with elections taking place at the Forum AGM. 

Forum Voices work on several initiatives including: the Local Strategic Partnership, the Social Inclusion Advisory Group and the Reading Compact; and on statutory/voluntary and community sector partnerships working for children and young people, older people and for people with drug, alcohol, disability and health-related issues.

If you would like an issue that is being addressed by your group discussed at statutory level, please contact the relevant Forum Voice below for the following bodies:

The Climate Change Partnership's mission is to deliver local strategic aims for the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change in Reading, through working in partnership across the business, voluntary, community and statutory sectors. The partnership will seek to build a citizen, business, public and voluntary consensus for urgent and targeted action.

The LSP is the key strategic partnership body involved in developing local service strategies.  Its membership is drawn from private, public, voluntary and community sectors to act collectively as a strategic force for change.

Compact

The Reading Compact is a Steering Group that addresses the principles and parameters of the ongoing relationship between statutory and VCS organisations locally with regard to funding, commissioning and procurement of services, consultation and accountability.

This partnership was formed in response to the national Valuing People agenda for inclusion, rights, choice and independence. It seeks to influence planning and service delivery toward meeting these aims.
